Job Summary
A leading technology and networking solutions company is looking for a Senior Platform/Infrastructure Automation Engineer to join its QA team, building and maintaining Python-based test automation for the platform/VM layer of SD-WAN controllers (Manager, Controller, Validator). This is the senior individual-contributor role on the team — you’ll set the patterns for how the test automation framework is structured, without formal people-management duties.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain the core Python test automation framework used across the platform/VM layer
- Build and execute automated tests validating controller deployment, configuration, and lifecycle at the platform level
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Define reusable test patterns and utilities other engineers on the team can build on
- Perform manual and exploratory testing where automation coverage is still developing
- Collaborate with backend and UI test automation engineers to keep the framework consistent across layers
Required Skills
- Strong Python skills, including experience designing test automation frameworks (pytest, robot, or similar)
- Minimum 2 years of networking domain experience
- Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing, VPN/IPsec; SD-WAN (Viptela/Catalyst) experience is a strong plus
- Experience with CI/CD integration for automated tests
- Comfortable working independently with light internal guidance
- Senior-level experience in test automation/SDET roles
- Large enterprise environment experience
- Willingness to overlap with US working hours
