Job Summary
A leading technology and networking solutions company is seeking a Senior Network Automation Engineer with solid enterprise networking experience and practical exposure to Python-based automation. The role combines hands-on routing and switching, Cisco SD-WAN, service-provider networking concepts, and automation of configuration, validation, testing, and operational tasks. Candidates need not be an expert in every listed platform, but must demonstrate strong networking fundamentals, problem-solving ability, practical scripting capability, and the capacity to learn Cisco-specific tools during onboarding.
Responsibilities
- Configure, support, optimize, and troubleshoot Cisco SD-WAN environments, including interaction with OSPF and BGP
- Work with enterprise and service-provider routing scenarios involving IP/MPLS, BNG, and L3VPN, based on project needs
- Create and maintain Python scripts for network configuration, validation, testing, reporting, and repeatable operational activities
- Contribute to automated test cases and traffic validation (Spirent TestCenter, CyberFlood, or comparable tools — beneficial but not mandatory)
- Troubleshoot issues across network configuration, automation scripts, and virtual lab environments
- Analyze client requirements and translate them into practical network and automation tasks
- Use Git for version control and Jira for work tracking
- Prepare technical documentation, test evidence, and knowledge-transfer material
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience in enterprise, telecom, or service-provider networking
- Strong routing and switching fundamentals with hands-on Cisco IOS or comparable multi-vendor platform exposure
- Working knowledge of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and L3VPN
- Hands-on Cisco SD-WAN exposure, or strong routing experience with demonstrable ability to ramp up during onboarding
- Practical Python scripting capability for network or test automation
- Ability to troubleshoot logically across network and automation layers
- Clear client-facing communication and professional English proficiency
- Willingness to work with reasonable US time-zone overlap
Preferred Qualifications
- CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or other relevant vendor networking certification — preferred, not required at application stage; candidates without current certification may be considered if willing to complete an agreed certification path during onboarding
- Experience with Cisco NSO, YANG, NETCONF, RESTCONF, or related APIs
- Exposure to Spirent TestCenter, CyberFlood, or similar traffic-testing platforms
- Experience with SDN, NFV, VMware ESXi, or equivalent virtualization technologies
- Experience with Netmiko, Paramiko, Nornir, Ansible, or pyATS
- Exposure to CI/CD practices for network automation
