Job Summary
A leading technology and networking solutions company is looking for a Backend/API Automation Engineer to join its QA team, focused on testing and automating validation of the backend/API layer — REST/POST API automation plus backend microservices, database, and message-queue validation.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain Python-based automated tests targeting backend services and APIs
- Design and execute API-level test scenarios covering functional and edge cases
- Report and track defects, collaborating with backend developers to clarify requirements
- Integrate backend test suites into CI/CD pipelines
- Support cross-layer testing efforts alongside platform and UI engineers
Required Skills
- Strong Python skills with API test automation experience
- General networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing); SD-WAN exposure is a plus — candidates from a telecom background without direct backend automation experience are acceptable
- Comfortable working independently, taking ownership of assigned test areas
- Mid-to-senior level experience in QA automation/SDET roles
- Large enterprise environment experience
- Willingness to overlap with US working hours
